Information advisor
Responding to general requests for information and advice over the phone, face-to-face or via email
Knowledge of services or organisations across Nottinghamshire who work with individuals that have a disability or care for someone
Be an advocate for Disability Nottinghamshire and promote the services it can offer to people
Good listener, non-judgemental and general awareness of issues facing disabled people or carers
Welfare benefits and/or appeals
Responding to welfare benefit and/or appeal requests for information and advice over the phone, face-to-face or via email
Help individuals complete a variety of forms e.g. welfare benefits, housing, tax etc…
Understand the implications advice can have on welfare benefits and decisions
Carry out ‘better off’ calculations to see if an individual is receiving everything they are entitled to
Knowledge of the welfare benefits process and/or appeals system
Marketing and communications
Good communicator using a variety of methods to make people aware of the services we can offer
Experience of social media, public relations, local media, press, web sites, desk top publishing and photography
Creating leaflets, posters, guides, reports and publicity materials
Consistent approach to branding, identity and reputation
Identify opportunities for us to promote our services
Admin, research and statistics
General admin duties, filing, office tasks, indexing, organisation etc…
Updating, maintaining and ensuring our client data is accurate, timely and meaningful
Analytical skills and ability to translate statistical information into simple reports or tables
A flair for research and a commitment to ensuring feedback is gathered from clients to ensure our services meet people’s needs.
Monitor the difference we make to people’s lives by measuring the outcomes and impact our of services
Fundraising, donations and grants
Help generate unrestricted income by undertaking fundraising activities e.g. sponsored events, fundraisers, raffles, entertainment, coffee mornings
Increase donations, including gift aid, to help support the charity deliver the services people need
Investigate possible funding and grant opportunities which the charity could apply
Access auditors
Have you an eye for detail? Do you have a disability or experience of disability? Then why not consider joining our access audit team.
Full training, equipment and support will be provided to assist you in becoming an volunteer access auditor. Previous examples of audits we have carried out include bus stations, parks, offices and public buildings.
