Information and advice<\/b><\/a> \u2013 we provide general disability and carer advice on a vast range of subjects and topics. Volunteer and user led, this service is run by people with disabilities or caring experience..<\/p>\n

Welfare benefits<\/b><\/a> \u2013 specialist knowledge, skills and information about benefits including allowances, payments, credits, pensions, funds and budgets.<\/p>\n

Appeals & tribunals<\/b><\/a> \u2013 <\/b>Unfortunately this service has now come to an end due to a lack of funding but if you still require help to complete an appeal or tribunal then we have some self-help packs which can either be downloaded from our website by clicking on the following link or by contacting us via email or telephone.<\/p>\n

Service directory<\/b><\/a> \u2013 a concise online directory to help you find various services across Nottinghamshire who can help, assist or support you or the person you care for.<\/p>\n

Access guides<\/b><\/a> \u2013 we have published a range of information guides which are free to download or alternatively we can send you one in the post.<\/p>\n

Social care <\/b><\/a>\u2013 this section is dedicated to social care, in particular, direct payments, personal budgets and support planning.<\/p>\n

Health<\/a> \u2013 <\/b>information on local healthcare, GP’s, dentists, hospitals and personal health budgets.<\/p>\n

User led organisation (ULO)<\/a><\/h3>\n

Disability Nottinghamshire has been a ULO since its inception back in 1983 as DIAL Mansfield & District. A group of liked minded individuals came together to form a group as they felt there was a lack of independent and impartial advice for anyone with a disability to make informed decisions about their lives. These individuals all had personal experience of disability or had a disability themselves. This ethos remains at the heart of the organisation to this day.<\/p>\n

ULO Guide<\/a> <\/strong>– We have produced a concise, informative and easy to read guide for individuals and organisations to learn more about the types of things a user led organisation does.<\/p>\n

Disability Independent Advisory Group (DIAG)<\/b><\/a> \u2013 this is a countywide forum led by people with disabilities, who meet quarterly to discuss and act upon local topics, subjects or issues.<\/p>\n

Become a member of Disability Nottinghamshire<\/b><\/a> \u2013 receive regular updates from us, invites to events, opportunities to have your say and voting rights at our annual general meeting (AGM).<\/p>\n

RADAR keys<\/a><\/h3>\n

RADAR toilet keys are available to purchase for \u00a34.50 from our office or \u00a36 including postage and packing. Please bring or send us evidence of your disability such as a Blue Badge, alternatively we will require you to sign a declaration.<\/p>\n

Befriending Service<\/a><\/h3>\n

Befriending offers supportive, reliable relationships through matching volunteer befrienders to people who may be socially isolated or experiencing loneliness.<\/div>\n

The service is provided by trained volunteers who give their time to offer companionship, trust and support to someone.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Disability training and consultancy<\/a><\/h3>\n

Using the skills, knowledge and personal experiences of users, volunteers, members and associates of Disability Nottinghamshire, we can carry out studies on a range of topics relating to disability, caring, services and issues. We can also provide various training programmes relating to disabilities, equalities, welfare benefits, social care to help individuals and organisations.<\/p>\n
