Volunteering

In 1983, a group of enthusiastic volunteers started what has today become Disability Nottinghamshire. Our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do and we would not be able to deliver the services we do without their dedication, commitment and passion.

Could you be a volunteer?

We’re always looking for people who can enhance the charity by bringing with them skills, knowledge and experience that we might be lacking. You don’t need formal qualifications or previous experience but if you have a disability, impairment, experience of disability or are a carer it may help your application. You must be 18 years old or over.

Why volunteer with us?

Apart from the reward of helping others and the confidence gained through volunteering, we can also offer National Vocational Qualifications’ (NVQ’s) which look great on a CV.

Will it affect my benefits?

If you’re currently receiving welfare benefits, it is unlikely that volunteering with us will affect these but we can advise if you have any questions or concerns.

What commitment would I need to give?

Volunteers typically work one full day or two half days a week during office hours (10:00 to 3:00pm).

Application form

To ensure a fair and transparent approach, we require anyone interested in volunteering to complete an application form.

DBS (CRB) checks

Every volunteer must undertake a Disclosure and Baring Check (DBS) before starting with Disability Nottinghamshire.
